Why Indie Books?
For the past seven years I have been involved, in one way or another, with small and independent organizations. I founded, then ran, a literary journal called Pathos Literary Magazine for three years in college, then went on to intern for Fantagraphics Books, then worked for a year editing part of an indie arts journal called Line Zero.
I also worked as a newspaper reporter, completed NYU’s Summer Publishing Institute, and hold a bachelor’s in English. Currently, I work in marketing and content development for a start up company here in Seattle.
I have always had a soft spot for the little guy. I am the little guy. I think we should stick together. That’s why I review books from self-published authors and small independent publishers only. I don’t think the world needs another review of Franzen’s The Corrections, but I know there are many indie writers out there in need of some attention. I’m here to give it.
Interested in sending your book for me to review?
I happily review books from self-published writers and small publishing houses in both print and e-book formats. I review all fiction including but not limited to science fiction, young adult, and romance (sorry, no erotica!). I also review some non-fiction such as memoir. Ms. Pieroni:
From The Nevada Review website I discovered your book reviews and I have read them with great admiration. What might I do to have you consider reviewing my recently published collection of short stories, Old Floyd Tells Tales? All the stories are set in Nevada mining towns of the late 19th century. I think you would find them amusing. I would hope that you might find some of them touching. Additional information is available on the Amazon Books site. Nectar Press would send you a review copy with, of course, the understanding that you may very well choose not to consider it. In any event, I have subscribed to your blog and look forward to following your work. You are a perceptive and engaging writer. Many thanks, R.W. Pinger
I’m always happy to review books from upcoming writers. Please email instructions as to how I might obtain a copy of the book in question via email at laurareviewsbooks@gmail.com.
